The original inspiration for this painting came from seeing the work of another group of artists, an expression in the form of a film called 'The Science of Sleep'. The elegance and imagination and beauty of this film translated into the beginning of this paintings life.
This painting went through a lot of different stages and 'looks' before it was finished, it was like she always wanted to change her image. In the end we came to an agreement as to how she was happy to look, and here she is!
Sometimes I feel like the images that manifest themselves in my head have a lot of control in the creation of a painting, I could paint something over again and again and it does not feel right until it becomes what it was supposed to be. Even if sometimes I do not know what it is supposed to be until it has reached that point.
