Chicken heartFeburary 2006 This painting came from the shocked faces of the people to whom I tried to explain that I had seen several boxes of chicken hearts in the supermarket in Antwerp. They were sure I had made a mistake, that I didn't understand the language, that nobody in Belgium eats chicken hearts! Well, maybe nobody eats them, but they certainly do sell them, in a box about the size of your hand, 20 little chicken hearts! And this is one item of food I never saw in an Irish shop! Maybe they are wonderful to eat, but I think I'll give it a miss! |
